LED downlights & lighting
Lighting changes how a room feels more than almost anything else you can do to it. We replace old halogens, lay out new downlights so the light lands where you need it, and fit the pendants and wall lights that make a room.
Fixed price quoting. Based in Lyndoch and servicing Williamstown, Tanunda, Nuriootpa, Angaston, Gawler and the wider Barossa Valley.

Why replace old halogens
Old halogens run hot
Halogen downlights get hot enough to be a genuine fire risk where insulation has been pushed up against them. Modern LEDs run cool and the fittings are rated for insulation contact.
A fraction of the running cost
An LED does the same job on a small share of the power, and lasts years rather than months. With a houseful of downlights that adds up on every bill.
Layout matters more than count
More lights is not better lighting. We work out where they should sit so you are not standing in your own shadow at the bench, and so the room is not a grid of holes in the ceiling.
Pick the right colour
Warm white suits living areas and bedrooms, cooler white suits a kitchen, laundry or garage. We bring options so you can see the difference before we fit the lot.
What we do
- Walking the rooms with you and planning where the light actually needs to land
- Replacing halogen fittings with insulation-contact rated LEDs
- New downlights in extensions, renovations and new ceilings
- Pendants, wall lights, strip lighting and feature lighting
- Dimmers matched to the fittings, so you get smooth dimming instead of flicker and buzz
- Outdoor, alfresco and garden lighting, including sensors and timers
- Tidy work: drop sheets down, holes cut neatly, mess cleaned up before we go
Dimmers are where cheap jobs go wrong
Flickering dimmed LEDs are almost always a mismatch between the dimmer and the fitting. We pick the pair to suit each other rather than fitting whatever is on the van.
Worth a look if
Common reasons people call us about lighting:
- You still have halogen downlights, especially with insulation in the roof
- Lights flicker, buzz, or have started dropping out
- A dimmer hums, or the lights will not dim smoothly
- The kitchen bench or bathroom mirror is in shadow
- You are renovating and the ceiling is open
- You want a pendant or wall lights where there is no light point yet
Common questions
Can you replace halogen downlights with LED?
Yes, and it is one of the most worthwhile jobs in an older home. We swap the fittings for insulation-contact rated LEDs, which run cool and use a fraction of the power.
How many downlights does a room need?
Fewer than most people expect. It depends on ceiling height, the beam angle of the fitting and what the room is used for. We work it out with you rather than filling the ceiling.
Can I dim LED downlights?
Yes, with dimmable fittings and a dimmer matched to them. Most flickering and buzzing comes from a mismatched pair, so we select both together.
Warm white or cool white?
Warm white for living areas and bedrooms, neutral or cool for kitchens, laundries and garages. Some fittings let you switch between them, which is handy if you are not sure.
Can you put a pendant where there is no light?
Usually yes. If there is roof access above it is straightforward. We will tell you what is involved before we start.
