EV charger installation
A proper home charger fills the car overnight on your own power instead of a trickle from a power point. We install Evnex smart chargers, set up solar charging and scheduling, and size the circuit so your switchboard is not the weak link.
Fixed price quoting. Based in Lyndoch and servicing Williamstown, Tanunda, Nuriootpa, Angaston, Gawler and the wider Barossa Valley.

Why a dedicated charger
Much faster than a power point
A wall charger on its own circuit adds far more range overnight than the portable lead that came with the car, and it is designed to run at full load for hours, which a general power point is not.
Charge on your own solar
An Evnex charger can be set to use surplus solar during the day and top up from the grid overnight, so you use what your panels make instead of exporting it.
Load management so nothing trips
We look at your supply and what else runs in the house, and set the charger up so it backs off instead of overloading the main. That matters on hot days with the air conditioning going.
Scheduling and off-peak
Set it to charge in your cheapest window and forget about it. You can change it from the app without touching anything in the garage.
What the installation includes
- A look at your switchboard, main supply and whether there is a spare way for the circuit
- Working out the right charger size for your car, your supply and your solar setup
- A dedicated circuit with its own protection, run tidily to where you want the charger
- Mounting the charger where the lead reaches your car comfortably, inside or out
- Setting up the app, scheduling, solar settings and load management with you
- Testing the installation and charging the car before we leave
- Certificate of Compliance for the work
Thinking about solar too?
If solar or a battery is on your list, it is worth doing the charger at the same time or at least planning both together. Sizing the board once is cheaper than twice.
What we check first
Every home is a bit different. Before quoting we look at:
- Whether you have single-phase or three-phase supply
- The condition of your switchboard and whether there is room for the circuit
- The distance from the board to where you want the charger, which affects cable size
- Whether you have solar, a battery, or plan to add either
- Where you park, and whether the charger needs to be weatherproof
- Whether you want a tethered lead or a socket you plug your own lead into
Common questions
How long does an EV charger installation take?
Most are half a day to a day, depending on the cable run and whether the switchboard needs work first. We tell you which it is when we quote.
Can I just use a normal power point?
You can trickle charge from a standard outlet with the lead that came with the car, but it is slow and a general power point is not designed to run at full load for hours. A dedicated circuit is the safer and far faster option.
Do I need to upgrade my switchboard first?
Sometimes. If your board is full, old, or has no safety switches, it usually makes sense to sort it at the same time. We will tell you honestly if yours is fine as it is.
Can the charger use my solar?
Yes, with a smart charger like the Evnex. It can be set to prioritise surplus solar and top up from the grid when needed. How well it works depends on your system size and when you drive.
Will it trip the power when the aircon is on?
Not if it is set up properly. We configure load management so the charger reduces its draw when the rest of the house is busy, instead of pushing the main over its limit.
